Hurricane Fabian

Hurricane Fabian

Hurricane Fabian’s 140 mile per hour winds make it the strongest storm of the 2003 Atlantic hurricane season. The storm is currently heading northwest, and forecast models predict that the storm track will bend towards the north. Fabian is unlikely to strike the U.S. mainland, but may hit Bermuda. This image was acquired near noon local time by the Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS). Puerto Rico is just to the left (west) of the hurricane, and Hispaniola is on the edge of the image.
