Tropical Storm Conson

Tropical Storm Conson

At 15:00 UTC (11:00 p.m. Manila time) on July 14, 2010, the U.S. Navy’s Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) reported that Tropical Storm Conson had maximum sustained winds of 50 knots (90 kilometers per hour) and gusts up to 65 knots (120 kilometers per hour). The storm was located roughly 225 nautical miles (415 kilometers) west-northwest of Manila, having passed over the Philippines.

The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite captured this natural-color image on July 14, 2010. West of the Philippines, the storm appears less organized than it did the day before, although it still had not dissipated. Long cloud tendrils extend from the center of the storm hundreds of kilometers to the southwest.
