This true-color image shows dust plumes blowing off the coasts of Sudan and Somalia on July 16, 2009. Both plumes head northeast, although the dust plume from Sudan changes direction to move southeast.

This true-color image shows dust plumes blowing off the Sudanese coast and over the Red Sea on July 9, 2009. The thickest dust plume blows toward the northeast, but thinner dust plumes blow toward the southeast, just missing the coast of Saudi Arabia.
