Strong winds again blew dust from the Sahara Desert over the Mediterranean Sea and Into Southern Europe. These winds may also be responsible for the sediments, which appear bright blue, that swirl just off the coast of Italy (towards the top of the image).

There was a large cloud of dust blowing from Northern Africa over the Mediterranean Sea on March 4, 2002.
