Fires continue to burn out of control in southern New South Wales, Australia on January 16, 2003. This true-color Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image was acquired by the Aqua satellite and shows active fires marked with red dots. The fires are producing a lot of smoke, which is blowing southeast in this image.
