The Earth Observatory is Moving!

December 2nd, 2025 by Kevin Ward
A large moving truck passes by a building with the NASA meatball logo.

For more than 26 years, Earth Observatory has been located at earthobservatory.nasa.gov.  Now, as part of our next chapter, we are moving to a new home at science.nasa.gov/earth/earth-observatory. We have been working hard to migrate our content, and as of December 2, all new Image of the Day stories are being published exclusively at our new location.

We still have a few remaining items to transfer, but we expect to complete the move during the week of December 8, after which earthobservatory.nasa.gov will be turned off. All URLs will redirect at that time, so most of your existing bookmarks will point you to the correct pages. However, to ensure quick and seamless access, you can start now by updating your favorite bookmarks:

Also note that if you use our RSS feeds, those will also start redirecting when we complete our move. See you at science.nasa.gov/earth/earth-observatory!

I guess after 26 years, change was eventual. As a fan of the site, I would hope that you keep it a simular layout and include the ‘collections’ catgory as well. Best wishes in your new home!
