This false-color image from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) from June 18, 2002, has been enhanced to highlight the large burn scar associated with the Hayman Fire and others in Colorado (top) and New Mexico (bottom). Vegetation is bright green, burned areas are reddish-brown, and active fires are marked with red dots.
Please note that the high-resolution scene provided here is 500 meters per pixel. For a copy of the scene at the sensor's fullest resolution, or to see the true-color image, visit the MODIS Rapid Response Image Gallery.
