Thick plumes of dust extended across the Mediterranean Sea on February 18, 2010. While the dust is thickest over the water, it is clearly affecting air quality in southern Greece, Crete, and over the densely populated Nile Delta. This photo-like image was acquired by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite at 11:15 a.m. local time.
The highest resolution version of the image is provided above. The image is available in additional resolutions from the MODIS Rapid Response System.
