After a short period of rest, Villarrica volcano in southern Chile is once again spewing ash. The Advanced Land Imager (ALI) on the EO-1 satellite acquired this image of the activity on March 18, 2015. According to news reports, the alert level near the volcano has been raised to orange (the second highest).
Villarrica last erupted on March 3, 2015, covering the mountain’s eastern side with a large volume of volcanic material.
