Koryaksky (or Koryakski) Volcano on Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula released a plume of ash and/or steam in late December 2008.
This true-color image from July 27, 2009, shows a plume blowing toward the northwest from Batu Tara. The distinct segments of the plume suggest that it was released in pulses of volcanic activity.
