This natural-color image of super typhoon Maysak was acquired by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite at 1:55 p.m. local time (0355 Universal Time) on March 31, 2015. The category 5 typhoon was menacing the islands of Micronesia and headed for a possible landfall in the Philippines by the end of the week.

Acquired October 18, 2009, this true-color image shows Super Typohhon Lupit over the western Pacific Ocean. High, thick clouds appear northeast of the storm’s eye.
Super Typhoon Choi-wan maintained its tight circular shape and well-defined eye on September 17, 2009, when this image was taken.
