Our focus at Earth Observatory has long been still imagery and data-intensive maps. But lately we have been supplementing some stories with video and animations. Nicely made slide show of clouds with impressive music. Thanks Kathryn. I would love to see a narrated version of this cloud-music video just like the other awesome Chesapeake Bay video with Adam’s voice in the narration. This would be a great video to show to the kids and grandparents alike. Increasingly, arts are being used to communicate science to the public. This will help in creating better awareness and shape public policies. I believe this is a logical and sensible direction that NEO is taking. Often times an ‘image of the day’ contains so much useful information that it may need more than a day for the message to be absorbed and also appreciated. And what better way to use still imagery blended with human voice, music, animation, video etc. to communicate science in an emphatic way.
