Dust Blowing off West Africa

Saharan dust sweeps off the coast of northwestern Africa in this true-color Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image captured by NASA’s Terra satellite on October 5, 2003. As the tan dust plume moves southwest across the Atlantic, it all but obscures the Cape Verde Islands.

The high-resolution image provided above is 250 meters per pixel.
