Fires in Oregon

On August 20, 2003, the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Aqua satellite captured this image of fires (marked with red outlines) in northwest Oregon. The northern most fire is the Bear Butte Fire and the southern fire is the Booth Fire. At top center of the image, a gray patch marks the location of Portland along the Columbia River.
