U.S. Low Pressure System

U.S. Low Pressure System

On May 11, 2003 a large low pressure system centered near Lake Michigan brought overcast conditions to much of the upper midwest. The cloud system is in the familiar shape of a comma with the head stretching form the low center to the northwest and its tail following along the cold front.

The grayish haze just left of the bottom center of the image is smoke from fires burning in southern Mexico and Central America.
