Bushfires Raging in Southeast Australia

This true-color Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image shows bushfires (red dots) raging in southeast Australia on January 13, 2003. The fires are heavily concentrated along the border of New South Wales in the north and Victoria in the south. Across the Bass Strait from the mainland (see high-resolution image), a large fire is burning on Flinders Island.
