Eruption of Sicily's Mt. Etna

With its ash plume looking markedly less robust, Sicily’s Mt. Etna nonetheless continues to erupt more than 3 weeks after it began on October 27, 2002. In this image from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Terra satellite taken on November 19, 2002, the heat signature from the volcano is marked with a red dot, while plumes of ash and smoke stream eastward.
