Shutdown Notice

October 1st, 2013 by Adam Voiland

We’re sorry, but we will not be posting updates to this blog during the government shutdown. Also, all public NASA activities and events are cancelled or postponed until further notice. Rest assured that we will be back as soon as possible! We hope that you will stick with us and we promise more great imagery when we return. Please note that we will not be moderating or posting comments until the shutdown is over.

See you on the other side,

Kevin, Mike, Adam, Holli, Jesse, Rob, and Paul

I always enjoy your posts. Hope you guys survive the shutdown. Sorry that it’s come to this because stupid Republicans are trying to burn the government down.

If I look from the “Old World” over to you, your government (democrat or republican) looks like a bunch of childish kids in a kindergarden. Your debts are rising from year to year, it looks like you have to do something different. Why don’t you send your two parties into retirement and start with new people and new ideas. Did you know that the US has a national depth of 16 000 000 000 000. This means that every single US citizen has a debt of around 60.000$ .

Very disappointed by shutdown of this site, but not by the US Govt. shutdown. You could have left the website up and running while NASA staff were forced to stay home. The contents of this site was paid for by the US Govt in past many years, so the common sense says the contents should stay available to the public as they had already paid for it. Denying the visitors of the site from accessing the past contents is a bit childish! You should have left the web server running while enjoying your 2 weeks off. NOT happy at all.

They were not allowed to keep the servers running — I am sure that EO staff did not have any choice in this matter. Please do not pass on the blame to them. Thank you.
