Fires Scorch Oregon

The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) detected numerous fires (red dots) burning in the western United States on July 13, 2002 (see full-resolution scene). Fires in Oregon are especially large, and are producing thick smoke.

Please note that the high-resolution scene provided here is 500 meters per pixel. For a copy of the scene at the sensor's fullest resolution, visit the MODIS Rapid Response Image Gallery.
