Spring Snow over Denver, Colorado

Spring Snow over Denver, Colorado

A spring storm slammed Denver, Colorado with as much as 17 inches of snow and strong winds on March 26, 2009, reported the Associated Press. Skies were clear the next day, providing the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite this view of the Denver region. Though the scene is universally white, the city and its suburbs are slightly darker than the brilliant, smooth white plains that surround it. The even grid of the city’s streets is visible beneath the snow. The Rocky Mountains to the west of the city are textured beneath a layer of snow. The large image shows that the storm dropped snow across several states in the West and Midwest.
