Dust Plume off Western Africa

Dust Plume off Western Africa

Saharan dust blew off the west coast of Africa and over Cape Verde on June 22, 2007, continuing a pattern of dust storm activity for the second consecutive day. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite captured this image on June 22. In this image, dust and clouds fill the skies over Cape Verde. Some of the clouds form swirling patterns known as vortex streets in the wake of the island archipelago.
