On May 17, 2007, a dust storm swept over the Persian Gulf, forming an arc over Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iran, and Iraq. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite took this picture the same day. This image shows the dust plume, appearing as a buff-colored blur, partially obscuring the view of the land and water below. The plume is widest over the gulf, along the shore of Saudi Arabia.
