The Meteosat-8 geostationary satellite captured this total solar eclipse sequence on March 29, 2006. The fuzzy black spot moving from west to east (from bottom center toward upper right) across the globe is the shadow of the moon. The pitch-black central area, about 160 kilometers (100 miles) across, is the region of totality, where the Moon was completely eclipsing the Sun.
