Smoke from Asian Fires over Canada

This Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) from the Terra satellite on May 23, 2003, shows a large plume of smoke passing over Central Canada. The smoke probably originated from the intense forest fires burning in Asia.

The high-resolution image provided above is 500 meters per pixel. The MODIS Rapid Response System provides this image at MODIS’ maximum spatial resolution of 250 meters.
