Dust over the Arabian Sea

Dust over the Arabian Sea

In early December 2002, strong winds were blowing dust and sand from the Makran Mountains in southern Pakistan and Iran out over the Arabian Sea. The above true-color image of the dust plumes was acquired by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument, flying aboard NASA’s Aqua spacecraft.
