Numerous Fires in Southeast Tanzania

Through a patchwork of clouds, the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on the Aqua satellite detected numerous fires (red dots) burning in Tanzania, Africa, on November 25, 2002. Fires appear to be most heavily concentrated on the Makonde Plateau, north of the Tanzania-Mozambique border. At image right is the Indian Ocean.
